Change Default Task Group in Task View in OL'07

Paul Engel

I am using Outlook '07. In the tasks window, there is a list of "My Tasks".
One of the items there is "To Do". I am not able to make the To Do view do
what I want. I AM able to make the "Task" item's view do what I want it to
do. Whenever I go into my Task view, no matter which of the "My Tasks" items
I had chosen the last time I was there, the default item, To Do, is what is
displayed...so I have to remember to click on the "Task" item in the My
Tasks list to get the right view.

I want to change the default that is selected whenever I go into my Task
view to be the "standard" Task item. Is there a way of either eliminating
the "To Do" item or to change the default to my standard "Task" item?

No, that's not possible. You're not the only one who finds the lack of flexibility annoying. If you have a retail version of Office/Outlook 2007, I suggest that you file a support incident on this issue. This is the best way to let Microsoft know about it. Unlimited support for Office/Outlook 2007 is free for the first 90 days after activation. See http://support.microsoft.com/gp/vista_supoffnew for more information on this support policy.

Thanks. What a pain. :)

May I also assume that the ability to hit Alt-G to enter a category for a
task is no longer available? It looks like my "process", with it's shortcut
keys designed so that I could set up a task without any use of the mouse had
also been undermined!
