change default dvd drives

Can someone please explain how I can make my
DVD rewritable drive the default instead of the other one?

It is a question of opening up your pc tower and physically changing the
jumpers and leads. The 'other one' as you put it is obviously configured to
be 'master' while your dvd is slave. You need to change the jumper on the
back of both dvd and 'other one' so that your dvd is set to master and 'the
other one' is set to slave.
