CF 2.0 etc.

Hi!

We are currently using VS 2003 but will eventuellay (when all device
manufacturers has SDKs for VS 2005) migrate to VS 2005.

The machines we are working with are WM2003 (not even Second Edition).

1. Should we start using CF 2.0 a.s.a.p, even before we start using VS2005?
(general performance improvements?)

2. Where can I find CF 2.0 dev redistributable? I can only find end-user (do
I need to install VS 2005?)

Thanks,

Peter

I should perhaps include the fact that we are using SQLCE 2.0

I found the cab file for v2 of CF after installing end-user
resdistributable...
C:\Program
Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v2.0\WindowsCE\wce400\armv4

Nevermind, this was explained in another post.

Conclusion: No use to install CF 2.0 on a WM2003 device if you are running
CF 1.0 applications!

Peter,

Not quite. Chris's suggestion of trying 2.0 is a good one. With 2.0 you'll
probably get better performance and many 1.0 apps can run under 2.0 just
fine.

I must admit I didn't read the link he gave me as he stated it was for CF2.0
only machines. My devices have WM2003 installed with CF1.0 in the ROM, so I
don't have CF2.0-only devices...

Also we use third-party components and a machine specific SDK, wouldn't I
need to re-direct them to use CF2.0 as well?

Peter,

I don't really know - it depends on what you have exactly. You can try CF
2.0, and if it doesn't work, uninstall it.
