I am running SP2 and have come across certificates. What are they for. I
open a console with cmd and type mmc. Now what does this do?

I type mmc and it asks for snap ons. That's what I've done lately. Now
I've also installed certificates. I don't know what I've done.

it you are trying to do?

"mmc" is the Microsoft Management Console. It's used to host various
administrative tools that can be used to manage your computer.

certmgr is a program that can be clicked on. It's in windows or system32 in
windows.
