Certificates

I have two W2K web servers setup with windows network load
balancing to provide redundancy for the site.

I have bought a certificate from Veritas to
secure the site. I was able to apply the certificate to
the first server okay, but the second one is giving me
different options to the first. I consulted Veritas,
asking if I needed a second certificate, but upon
explaining the load balancing situation they advised I
speak to my vendor (Microsoft) for help. Do I need a
second certificate from Veritas for the second server, or
does it apply site wide? If it applies site wide then how
do I apply the certificate to the second server?

Thanks for any help.

When I was running a WLBS webserver, I found that I, indeed, needed two
certificates - because the CSR from each machine is different.

When you create the CSR on the 2nd machine, be sure to fill it out EXACTLY
as the 1st one is filled out, that way when someone has gone secure and the
bounce back and forth between the WLBS servers, if they happen to look at
the cert's details, there won't be differences. Looks more professional.

Did you mean Verisign instead of Veritas, btw?

I have found since that the same certificate can be used
on both servers for the same site. It is possible by
exporting the key and then importing it on the second
server. You must import it into the same place as the
exported key (look in local computer certificates not
local user).
