Certain Installations think I don't have admin rights

I tried to install MS Office 2003 Pro and it says I don't have permission to update the registry, even though I have full administrator access, so it will not complete the install. I tried this after logging into my main account and the administrator account, both having full admin access, and had the same problem. I also tried to install Macromedia Shockwave Player and recieve the message "you do not have access to make the required system configuration modification. Please rerun this installation from an administrators account. The problem is, I was logged into an administrators account. I can't find any settings that will fix this. Any ideas???

Looks like this one is only for Win NT or 2000. Have you seen anything for XP
Thanks!
