Cell Referencing too and from check boxes?

Here is a quick mock up of what I'm trying to make:

Basically I want to be able to pick a name from a drop down list and check off if they are employed or not. But I want to be able to choose that name again later on and the check box will automatically check/uncheck depending on the data that is stored.

The drop down list and all of that are done. It's just the check box stuff that I cant figure out.

It would be nice to use it with formulas, but if macros are necessary that would be ok.
