cell highlighting

When I click on a cell, it does not allow me to do anything else except
expand the highlighted cells, leaving me no choice but to close the program
everytime. Any suggestions???

a) You're working on a laptop, and your mouse has been set to hold the
clcik, till you click again. If so, then, after making your selection, click
on the mouse button again, and it should confirm your selection.

b) Your mouse is acting up. Slap the wheel of the mouse quite hard, and
that should bring it to its senses.

I am working from a desktop computer with a pilot mouse optical. However, I
had tried rebooting the computer and that just made it to where I could not
use the mouse at all in any program, so I shut the computer down completely.
The next day, all systems were working fine, and all issues are resolved.
