cdrw does not appear in list of drives in My Computer

For the 3rd time in the last month or so, my computer has lost the cdrw drive. It simply does not appear in"My Computer" as an available drive. I have tried adding hardware wizard, checked BIOS, checked for driver updates. I don't know what else to do.

Download and install a tiny patch from the following URL to delete
upper and lower filters from the Windows registry:
