Hi,

Does anyone know of a CDrom that has all the Updates for XP
Professional or Home version since Service pack 1??

As I'm needing to reinstall XP on my PC but I only have service
pack 1, but when I come to getting on line, I dont want to be hit
with any trojans or virus's (ie msblast), it would save a lot of
time of downloading too.

Cheers

Such a CD does not exist yet. This may be included when thr SP2 is release,
later this year.

However, you can download all and create your own CD.

Just make sure you turn on the built-in firewall before going on
line.

Yes, but as far as I know, there's no such thing. One reason for
that is that, besides the critical updates, the updates you need
for your machine are not necessarily the same as what anyone else
needs for his. It depends on what hardware you have, etc.

no......no such thing...anyway...re-loading isn't such a big deal.....just
get organized...

There is one, it's called Service Pack 2, and it hasn't
been released for the general public yet. If you're
worrying about getting the msblast virus while trying to
download the xp updates, just make sure you have a fire-
wall installed, that will block it from entering your
computer. And for all the virus's, stay away from the porn
sites and you should't have a problem. :)
Happy downloading!

-ps, if you do happen to get the blaster worn, you can
stop the system shutdown by going to START/RUN and then
type: shutdown -a
that will abort the shutdown, then you can use the
taskmanager to shutdown the msblast.exe program. Then you
can finish downloading the updates.

None as yet.

I suggest:

Make sure that you have the firewall enabled before going on the
Internet at all. That will stop Blast infection

Install SP1 - preferably from the CD

Then go to
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;826939
and about a quarter way down, take the 'Download 826939 package now'.
That is a 9MB download, but does all the security fixes to last
September. Then at windows update the 824146 consiolidated upgrade to
IE/OE should leave not much else needed

Hi "Highroyds"

Hi,

Does anyone know of a CDrom that has all the Updates for XP
Professional or Home version since Service pack 1??

Windows XP magazine has published issues that contain the then current
critical updates, they seem to do this quite regularly.

As more recent updates seem to contain older smaller updates you only really
need to worry about the biggies and just download the small fry when your
protected.

Worried about getting the msblaster. After installing XP, then install the msblaster patch. Which you should have on hand on floppy anyway. Just in case. Then, you can start downloading your updates, worry free.
