Hey all,

We have a customer that recently upgraded their computer
from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. Their CDROM now no
longer works. It is a Samsung, model SN-124. Does anyone
know of any compatibility problems with this device and
W2K, or maybe a place to get an updated driver?
Samsung.com online didn't have it, and other sources only
had versions for Windows 9x. Appreciate any info!

I assume that the CD ROM is currently connected to
the secondary disk controller. As a test, see what
happens when you connect it to the primary controller
(i.e. on the same ribbon cable as your hard disk).
You may have to move its jumper from the "Master"
to the "Slave" position.

Check IDE Controler
may be not CD_ROM Drive (If not defective)
also check cable and jumper
(If that is cable select change to master or slave select by jumper)

Check the computer for Acraptec (or Roxio) EZ CD Creator. If they have that
software, then that's the problem. See the Acraptec/Roxio website for a
solution. Simply uninstalling the software WILL NOT fix the problem.
