cdrom problem

Hi there. I am hoping to get some help with this. I have had my Optima
computer for about 3 months. Everything is working great, but for the last
two days i have not been able to play music cd's or read other types of discs
( CDRW and CDR etc ). When i go to windows media player 10 i see a message
saying d drive is busy, then it says no disc in drive. When i put the disc
in ( both types ) i can hear the drive start to spin, then it slows down and
tries to start up again, but can't. Then it stops all together. I can play
DVD's with no problem. No idea what is going on. Any help in plain english
as i am not computer savvy with the terms and all that. Many thanks, Angela.

It is possible something is wrong to where your DVD drive can read DVD's but
not CD's. How is it on programs that require a CD in the drive to run?
