CDRom 1st boot on System

Using XP-Pro, AMD 2800, Asus A7N8X mobo and 1 Gig Ram. I installed
"Drive Image" which has a bootable CD if need for recovery. Bios is
Phoenix Award - I changed bios to boot CD first. Startup screen now
shows "Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:" There is no indication of what key to
use. Have tried all the usual but machine continues to boot from HD0. I
also have another [supposedly] bootable XP CDRom but same thing with
this. Anyone have any ideas of what key to use and why it will not boot
from CD? Thnx....

With a different MB/BIOS, I tried the same - with the same result - until
I disabled the other drives. Only then would the CD boot. Worth a
test...and your report here.

I tried the same thing but still no go. Received following in addition
to Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM --- "Disk Boot failure, insert system disk &
press enter". This machine will only boot from Hard Drive! I have
previously installed the MS recovery module which gives option to boot
from XP-Pro or recovery but that is AFTER these other sequences. I am
stumped.. Thanks all....

SOLVED: Contacted Asus mobo support and immediate reply. Switch the
drive ribbons from one cd drive to the other. Worked...Original had HD0
with DVD slaved and HD1 slaved to CD Burner and that should work but did
not. Now HD0 to CD burner and HD1 to DVD and everything works fine and
it even shows on boot screen opportunity to boot to a CD.
