My friends computer needed a complete re-install of
everything. I wiped the drive and let xp setup format
etc. Its running fine until you try and use a cd, you can
explore the cd but not load or install programs from it.
It is using an xp driver could this be the problem? This
is the same drive that xp was installed from so we know
it works.
anyone got any ideas?

Jamie, rt click MyComputer>select Prop>Hardware>Device Manager. Look to
see if there are any yellow marks next
to the Cdrom entry. rt click on cdrom and choose uninstall. Restart and
let WinXP reinstall the device.
