CD won't autoplay in DVD/RW drive

I am setting up a friend's new XP machine which has a DVD/RW drive in it.
When I place a driver CD or other software CD in it it doesn't autoplay. I
have to open explorer and find a setup file and hope that I chose the right
one. The friend has no clue how to do this. Under Properties, autoplay, on
the drive there isn't an option of what to do if a software installation CD
is inserted - only what to do with music, pictures, video files, mixed
content or movies. I thought it might be mixed content but none of the
options are to autoplay.
If I right-click the drive I have an option to autoplay, but my friend just
wants it the way his old WinXP machine did it - it just runs when he puts a
disk in.
How do I fix this for him?

Thanks, I have downloaded it and will take it with me next week when I
continue setting up his computer. I'm surprised I have to do this to a new
PC from Dell - you'd think the kinks would all be worked out.
