CD-RW Won't Read Files it Wrote

Suddenly, my CD-RW (Sony CRX195A) won't read any data or
image files that it wrote to CD. The files are there
because my husband's laptop with Windows ME will read
them. And the drive will read files from CDs that came
with my new camera -- apparently the problem is only with
files that it wrote.

In the last week I installed a recording program that came
with the CD and updated it from the site
for "compatibility with Windows XP." Unfortunately, I
neglected to use the program right after the update to see
if it worked so I don't know if it caused the problem.

Yesterday, I installed software from Nikon for using my
new digital camera.

I tried to do a System Restore to a date prior to these
installations but I keep getting the message that the
system cannot be restored to those points.

Can anybody suggest anything?

Had a similar problem with cd-r's created on ME with
Easycd creator, which isn't compatable with XP.
Downloaded a programme called CDRoller from webattack.com
you can try it to see if it works and if so pay $20 for
the key which will allow you to rescue your files. Worked
a treat for me and retrieved all my lost files.

Hopefully it was not a firmware (hardware) upgrade and installed
incorrectly.
