CD-RW Problem

I have Windows XP. My CD-RW driver is compatible. My
computer lists that everything connected with my CD-RW is
working properly; however, it does not recognize nor read
disks when loaded. It asks me to load a disk. When I
check the properties of the CD drive, it lists that all
space is used when there isn't even a disk loaded. I
have gone through the troubleshooting guide and have
checked everything they mentioned. If anyone can help, I
sure would appreciate it. Thank you.

I had a similar experience and found out that I was using
CD-ROM discs when I should have been using CD+ROM discs.
I don't really know what the difference is other than the
plus and minus in the name.

Bill:

There is no such thing as CD+ROM. Could you be thinking of DVD-R and DVD+R?
(And if that isn't confusing enough, the format is called "dash R" and not
"minus R".)
