CD-RW/DVD-ROM Trouble

Billy

I had just installed a new CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive (LG GCC-
4480B) and then the firmware update. However, it froze
and I had to reboot my computer.

But now the machine does not recognise/acknowledge the
existence of the CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive whatsoever. I've
tried reconnecting it from secondary slave to secondary
master, but regardless, the computer does not 'see' the
drive at all. In an attempt to recognise an installed
drive, it said 'Atapi incompatible'

Is there anyway I can rectify this situation so that my
computer can detect this drive like any other, or has
interrupting the firmware update completely damaged the
compatibility (and brand new!) drive??

i'm not an expert in this stuff but i take interest.. you
updated the cd rom's firmware and it didn't complete?
well if the basic instructions from the drive on how to
use the drive are not there, it's like having a plane
without a pilot.
