CD-RW drive has vanished ...

For no apparent reason that I can think of, my PC no
longer recognises my CR-RW drive (F). One morning it was
there, now it's gone. I can no longer open it manually
either. I have rebooted several times but it no longer
recognises it? Any suggestions?......

I had a similar problem about a week ago. It seems that there were values
in the registry that were causing the problem. The problem was resolved by
going to the Regedit tool and going to the following folder:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4D36E965-E325-11C
E-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Once there, right-click on and delete the "UpperFilters" and "LowerFitlers"
values.

I hope this helps anyone else who has this problem with the mysterious
disappearing CD-RW drive.
