Hi all -

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question. I know you can close
sessions and add more later for a cdrw disk. You also have the option of
erasing that data. My question is: What if I want to close the disk (not
the session) and not add anything else to it, would I still be able to erase
and reuse the disk again?

I use WinXP Prof. and EZ CD Creator 6.

Thanks in advance.

By nature a CDRW is rewritable. I am not sure what happens if you close the
session within EZCD, as I usually just use the builtin WinXP tools.
Of course with XP, all cdr become virtual cdrw's!

A CDRW is re-writeable so it doesn't matter if you close it with Nero
or EasyCD. You can always erase it and use it again. Even writing
to a CDRW using multi-session writes and then closing it doesn't
matter. It can still be used over again.

Thanks for your response.

Does this also include if the cdrw is not formatted?

Yes.

Yes, you do not have to format a CDR or CDRW in order to use it. You
should only format a disk if you wish to use like a large floppy disk.
In other words, for dragging and dropping - say, from Explorer. A
CDRW can be erased and used over and over as long as the media itself
remains good.

Thank you CS!

The idea of closing a disk is to *prevent* any more sessions being
written. Normally one does not bother - there are very few drives left
now that will not handle a MultiSession disk where the sessions
themselves are closed (the normal choice) but the disk is open.

Note that adding more sessions in this way applies equally to CD-RW and
to CD-R - they are treated in exactly the same way. But if you close a
CD-RW you can later erase it completely to use again
