My PC does not recognize my CD/DVD Rom. When I put a disc in an error comes up
Cannot locate CD Rom.

Go to Start > Run and type in: devmgmt.msc
and press the Enter key. After the Device Manager
window opens, scroll down to your DVD/CD-ROM
drive, click the "+" to expand, then right-click on
your CD Drive and select Uninstall. You will
be prompted to reboot your computer, so reboot
and Windows XP will reinstall the CD Drive.

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

If that doesn't work then you have a hardware issue more than likely.
Cleaning it might be the solution. If not it's just worn out and needs
replacing. It's pretty simple and cheap.
