Have lost my CD-ROM drive. . .. icon does not even show when i click "my
computer"
cannot use system restore because it has been like this for months. . .drive
does not open when i push the button on the computer either. . . is there
anyway i can get back the icon and the use of my CD-ROM???? Thanks in

Use a bootdisk and boot to dos. See if the cdrom drive door opens. If
not, replace the drive.

I'm not wrong with my answer. Its just a way to test if its a hardware
or software problem.

I have posted this to another query "CD Drive missing" :

See it iTunes installation has to do with this. There is along discussion on
how iTunes is causing unreadibility of CD drive. Only by removing a registry
setting will cause it work again. Go to
