CD Rom will not work ...

Ok. I have Windows XP Home. I have been using XP Home for
some time. A few months back I starting having a problem
with my CD Roms. I'll be playing a came and all of a
sudden XP will say or more like the Game or program asks
for the CD and its in the drive some times I can get it
back up by going in to the device manager and clicking on
the properities of the CD Rom and click on Volumes and
click populate and the CD starts to work. Other times I
have to reboot my PC to get it back. Anyone know whats
the deal?
