CD-ROM will not open

My cd-rom will not open when I press the button. The dvd-rom works but the
cd-rom does not. I used it recently, a day or so before this problem occured.
I cannot find any troubleshooting devices for this problem. Please tell me
how this problem can be fixed.

Its probably dead and needs to be replaced. You could try removing the power
plug (molex) and reseating it.

Look for a small hole on the front panel of the drive. Find a large
paper clip, unbend it so it's straight then insert it into the hole.
Poke around until you feel something give. This should unlock/open the
drawer. Press the button to see if the drawer opens and closes freely.
If not, it's probably a gnarled gear or broken belt . Go get a new drive
for about twenty bucks and install it.
