CD Rom unable to read discs

I have been trying to burn a CDin Windows Media Player, but the CD Rom does
not recognise when there is a blank disc in the drive. I have tried many
different blank CDs and none of them work. It will also not read any other
CDs, the same thing happens - the light comes on and I can hear it turning,
but the drive does not recognise that there is a disc in it. Any suggestions
would be most welcomed.

It is time to get a new drive.
