CD ROM: unable to initialize CD-R engine

I get this message when I'm trying to burn a CD. I've tried all different
ways of "updating" driver....uninstall then reinstall...reset
registry....this just happened out of the blue. I was told to get a burning
program and try that. I dunno...any suggestions?!
