CD-ROM troubles

I have a mapping program that won't work on my cd-rom. I'm running windows
media on a Dell. The C.D. worked for awhile but now the computer tells me
to insert the disk after it's already in and running. If I insert the disc
the cumputer will recognize the program then ask me to insert the disc. So
it's partially reading it because it knows what disc is in the drive. I used
the disc on other computers and it works so it is not the disc. Other
program discs work in the drive but for some reason the cumputer won't fully
recognize this one. Is it a software problem or a faulty drive? What
should I do?
