CD-ROM Problem

PC CD-Roms wont start up. I'm running an E-machines 190/390. I keep getting a message box which says-
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running MS_DOS and microsoft windows applications. Any help gratefully accepted.
