CD-Rom & Laptop Bios Trouble

When I go into the bios there was a ! next to the CD-Rom,
It looks like that meant it was disabled. I toggled it
off to enable it and restarted the pc and then go back
into the bios and the ! is no longing there but it does
not seem to recognize the CD-Rom, I looked for a place to
install it in the bios and could not find where to. The
floppy and hard drive have a description of what each is
like a fujitsi floppy 1.44 drive for example I can not
get the bios to do this for the CD-Rom.... when I load a
startup disk with universal support it says it can not
find the CD-Rom drive.... But if I put a cd in the drive
it spins it and sounds normal and working.... Any
pointers on what I could due would be appreciated..

1 - That is not the bios. You're talking about the Device Manager.
2 - An ! means that the device is not installed correctly.
3 - Open the case and make sure all cdrom cables are tight and clean cd
drive, boot up and install cdrom drivers from your computer makers website
or the cdroms website.

I believe it is the bios considering there is no OS on
the system and the drive is formatted.

Oh ok. I guess I never saw a bios give a ! before. I'd still say it a bad
connection somewhere or a bad cable. Also you might want to set the cdrom
back to ! and reboot and see if it works. If the bios doesn't see it, then
its most likely a cable or hardware issue.
