cd rom error

when I insert a cd in my cd/dvd rom drive the auto-detect feature doesn't
work. it doesn't detect the cd is in the cd rom drive yet when I right click
on the drive it shows the contents of the cd and I can run set up through
that how can I get windows to automatically detect the cd in the cd rom drive

Try this: Go to My Computer, right-click on the CD-ROM
drive and go to Properties. On the AutoPlay tab, select
an action for each of the different content-types and hit
the Apply button.

Hi Chris,


There is a file here that you can copy to your system and run, it will reset
the autorun defaults:
ftp://12.107.147.141/WinXP%20Autorun%20fix/

If you cannot access it, go to the Control Panel/Internet Options and on the
advanced tab disable passive ftp.
