cd rom drive shuts down

if left idle for extended time actual drive is off- drawer refuses to open..
going into MY COMPUTER, cd-rom " ICON " has dissappeared..
have to " RE-BOOT " to get cd-rom on and visible'

Sounds like a Power Management issue. Poke around in Control Panel,
Power Options.
