CD-ROM doesn't recognise a CD-R on a removable CD-RWer

Hi,
I'm running Windows 2000 on a server in the workplace. I
just used Nero to burn a data disc (CD-R) with a USB
connected CD-RW (portable drive). The programme completed
as per norm. I've recorded a few discs like this so that I
can take large data files home with me.

When I removed my newly burnt disc from the CD-RW, and
popped it into the CD-ROM, the CD-ROM fails to recognize
the disc... just days 'please insert disc...'.

I'm sure I had a problem like this a few months back (on
another unrelated computer)... something about not
recognising discs over a certain size, maybe????? The
discs have a maximum size of 700mb... I probably filled
about 640mb on this burn.

Also, I have just recently allowed the computer to run an
automatic update today... I'm wondering if that had
anything to do with it?

I know it's a little vague, but any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers,
Warren

Two posibilities that I can think of.
1. You didn't close the session when you finished writting the data to
the disc.
2. That particular CD-ROM can't read that particular type of CD-R dye.
