My apologies if this issue has come up before.

I tried to install an old (1995) Oxford dictionary on my hard disk in order
not to run from CD-ROM. After installation, I started the dictionary, and
it
didn't work properly. It asked me to insert the CD for starting the
dictionary.

How do I make it run on the hard-disk drive without using the CD?

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
There are programs that create VIRTUAL DRIVES on your hard disk. You can
install a cd program at that Drive. The program then somehow assumes
that the cd is being used, so no cd is needed then. There are several
Virtual programs for this. I think even microsoft has such a program.

I had a similar problem with the American Heritage Talking Dictionary
and here's what worked for me.

Make an iso file of the original disk. I use Nero and it's a very
simple task.

Using the iso file now on your hard disk, you can install from it and
it will not ask you to supply a CD in the future.

I use Daemon tools to run the iso file as a virtual disc. You can get
info on Daemon tools at www.deamon-tools.cc. Some people use a
similar program called "alcohol". Do a google search for daemon tools
and the first few hits will lead you to info about both products.
