CD Rom Combo Drive

I have a Cyberdrive combo drive (DVD-rom CD/RW) Its a 16xdvd 48xCD 24xcdrw. I
havent had any problems, until about a week ago when it will only write cds
at 4x its not the cds i am using as i have tried numerous brands etc. Also
Its not the option in Nero/Alcohol because they seem to be lock at 4x. Also
Now whenever I load a cd/dvd my pc hangs until it has started reading it
which takes about 30 seconds. Any ideas. I cant find any driver updates, I
haven't (re)installed anything or changed hardware config. Thanx for any help.
 
Tripod, it appears that the drive has some age on it and it might be
failing. The lense could be dirty and using a commercial
lens cleaner kit might help. I had the same symptom when my Lite On
failed.

Replace the drive.
