Christine

I am still looking for a solution to my problem.....

My CD ROM will not read any type of CD's (Music, Data) I've already tried
reinstalling drivers, system restore, cleaning everything, etc. Can someone
please help??? The error message says, "the Device CD ROM has a bad block?"
I'm not a tekkie so if you are able to help me please try and keep things
simple. Thanks!!!!

Christine, could you try your drive on another computer. It might just
have failed.

Alternitively u could also chk manufacturer web site see
if they have a firmware upgrade....

I had an HP rewriter with bad block errors. HP replaced it. Now the replacement has BB errors!

Replace the CD ROM - hardware does go bad.

It might not be the drive but the CDs then selves have bad blocks
which the computer is unable to read after 3 or more retries.
Clean the CDs and the drive with a CD cleaning kit.
