cd rom and usb detection problem

I have a new xp embedded installation, but i am unable to access the cd rom as well as any USB device if i connect, it gives me an error saying "media not recognised,do you want to format" even format does not succed, i have a plexwriter CD_RW drive

any help on this would be appreciated
 
Have you got the CDFS component installed?
