Cd-rom and dvd not listed in Win Device Manager

They were listed and were working fine and then stoped working and would get
messages that they were not accessible. Now Win 2000 says that there is no
cd rom
Its as if they were erased from the pc. They were both present in my
computer list also.

I have checked the connections, the jumpers, changed the cable, checked bios
to see if the ide is enabled and that it is auto selected, they are getting
power and they work fine my only problem is recognition. In the device man.
list it states "No cd rom drives" also says there are no problem devices.

How can I get win 2000 to recognize these drives.
