cd-r and cd-rw gone missing

After a systems restore gone bad my cd-r and cd-rw dissapeared, my systems restore page and search wizard also dissapeared and media player now won't work. After some messing around i've managed to get everything back but my cd rom and rw. sytems restore will not let me undo last restoration and will not restore to any other point. i,ve tried to uninstall and re install but says"an error occured when adding hardware, your new hardware may not function properly (error 39)" i did have a virus called W32.HLLW.Chemsvy but i believe i have ridded it. When i start up it tells me that some files are corrupted and i need to install my windows instalation disk1. I only recieved 1 gold disk with my pc and if i insert this it says wrong disk. With no money and harvey norman not covering software i'm in desperate need of some help.
