CD Player

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a CD Player for my computer. The must have
features are:

1) Minimising to tray
2) From the tray, be able to single click to pause/play the cd
3) automatically query the local CDDB and internet to get CD info
4) And be small - I only want a CD Player that sits in the tray
and plays CD's, nothing else :)

I used to have a CD player that fit this description, all else I
can remember about it, is that the icon in the tray bar was
purple and represented the current action (two bars for paused, a
triangle for playing etc). I can't find this one anyway. I'm
currently using Notify_CD which works ok, except the single click
function is play/next which I find annoying (personal preference
only).

I have one called CD Max by Clark Tisdale software which rings a
bell and does fit the bill, however it won't work for me - It
worked on one CD, but now it won't work anymore.

So can anyone recommend a good player, or even that player I used
to have?

Regards

This is the one I use, but it will not do your #4 request. You can not get
much simpler or smaller then this little jewel. Check it out:
http://keir.net/cd.html
CD 1.01 ZIP: 5K
http://keir.net/download/cd.zip

CD is a simple but fully functional CD player in 10K (5K download).

Standard controls include

Restart CD
Move back a track
Move forward a track
Play/Pause
Stop
The display shows the current track and the current time position within
that track.

Clicking the minimize button will hide the main window and create an icon in
the system tray. Resting the cursor over this icon shows the current track
and the total number of tracks available in the form of a tooltip.

Clicking on the tray icon brings up a menu where you can choose to open up
the main window again or select any of the standard play controls as with
the main window buttons.

You can even place CD over the task bar (where it fits quite nicely!) and it
will continue to be visible.

SysTrayPlay is pretty good. Does all you ask above and plays mp3's too.

With NotifyCD, in Options/Controls you can configure the click to do
anything you want, and also set up hot keys.

Hi DG,

I do have STP, in fact I've been using it to play MP3's lately -
it never was very happy about playing CD's for me though - after
reading your message, I went back and tried it and it promptly
hung the computer :( I might have a bit more of a play with it
later though. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Can I offer being nearly blind as an excuse :) I had even looked
at this page of the options before - I think I'd seen 'Next /
Play' and figured that there wouldn't be two options for playing!

Thanks for that. Looks like I'll stick with NotifyCD for now :)
I am still curious what the other program I used to use was
though? Possibly an old version of CDMax? Or maybe something
that because shareware.
