CD Formatting Compatibility

Will a CD-RW formatted with one program (e.g. Iomega) be accepted on a
system that is using a different formatting software program (Roxio) and
vice versa? I take work back and forth between home and the fire station, so
compatibilty is important. CGS

If your talking about cd's formatted for packet writing(like direct cd from
roxio), then most likely yes. Roxio puts a small reader install file on a cd
formated for direct cd so you can read it on other machines. If you want to
be able to put files onto the cd in both locations, then you will need the
same program on both machines.

The old adage is "The proof of the pudding is in the eating".

Seriously though, if they both use UDFS (Universal Disk Formatting System)
for packet writing, there shouldn't be a problem.

THe compatibility of the various implementations of 'packet' writing
software is usually not very good. Either find some other physical
means (those little USB 'disk keys' at say 64MB are excellent for this
sort of thing); or use the mastering type of software (eg Easy CD
Creator) to burn all the files for one occasion as a batch in a session
(the inbuilt burning of XP does it this way), and then be prepared to
erase the whole disk once nothing on it is of further use
