I was wondering if there is such an animal as an cd emulator that is
freeware - meaning free in the pure sense of the word - no adware or
malware included. Just looking for something that will emulate one or two
cd's so I don't have to keep putting in my WarCraft CD's in to play.

I seen that one on download.com but one reviewer claims it was now
loaded with malware- any truth to that?

I think that would be news to a lot of people.

Definitely not. I've been using it for years and none of the
spyware-blaster programs have had a problem with it.

Never, ever, EVER go to download.com for ANYTHING. EVER!

I use Daemon Tools on a daily basis, and it works wonderfully and
safely.

Have a look at Hekko:

<quote> Hekko Virtual CD creates a virtual CD-ROM drive on your Windows PC.
This allows you to make images of your favorite CD-ROMs and use them without
inserting a CD into a CD-ROM drive. Hekko Virtual CD: 1) improves the speed
at which you access data, 2) stops you from having to switch disks in and
out of your CD-ROM drive. Use Hekko Virtual CD to easily access your
favorite games, favorite music or favorite software programs. Since Hekko
Virtual CD uses HekkoScan(tm), nearly *any* CD can be imaged. </quote>

What's wrong with Download.com? I've used it for years - in fact since it's
inception. They even changed their policy a few weeks ago to not include
software for download that has spyware installed in it - something they
should be applauded for: http://tinyurl.com/77xh9
