Hello, any advice on this problem would be gratefully accepted. I have a
laptop one yr. old and I can play a dvd just fine but when I put a cd in the
dvd drive it doesn't work. I am trying to download software to use a new
fax/printer/scanner and it doesn't read it at all. I know the cd is good I
put it in my desktop and it read it fine. I hear the drive working but it
doesn't come up to install the software and I cannot find it in "my
computer... etc. This is not a new problem this has always been like this
since beginning, I did without because I didn't have to have it but now I am
wanting to download this software. Any ideas?? Thanks

Download the software from the printer manufacturer's website. Then run the
file from your hard drive. It's always best to get updated drivers anyway.

Take it back to the shop, you should have done that in the first place if it
has always been a problem.

cari, i haven't downloaded any software yet for the printer because it
wouldn't read the cd. so because of this i haven't anything on the cpu to
recognise for hp software on the website.
always best to get updated drivers anyway.

Not having HP software on your PC doesn't stop you downloading up to date
drivers.
