CD/DVD Drivers during Setup

Hi,

I'm trying to install Vista Home Prem on my PC which was running XP Pro (So
full install copy required from boot!).
I ran upgrade advisor and every thing checked out OK except DVD-RAM driver
(I never use as a DVD-RAM Drive anyway).

Problem is I'm having trouble during setup, Setup loads OK and after I
insert the License key it starts installing then asks me for Drivers for the
CD/DVD ROM. I don't know why it is asking for these - surely they are generic
like with other Windows versions. The drive is LG and they don't even have XP
drivers.

Initially the DVD wouldn't read the install disk, but I solved that by
copying the files to the HDD and doing a bootsect.exe to Vista to run from
bootmgr.
I have even disconected the CD/DVD from the MB to hide it from setup but it
still asks for the drivers.

anyone help?

I have never heard of "DVD-RAM" but I have heard of a DVD ROM usually a CD
ROM that has the capabilities of playing both DVD's and CD's however I had no
problems installing it. So either you can wait for someone to help you on
here or you can call Microsoft Tech Help for assistance. Wish you luck.

Is the media you're using to install Vista store bought or dowloaded and
burned? I had this issue at work on a laptop (well...I didn't have the
issue actually - but the person asking for help did), it turned out that
something was wrong with the installation media. I used another (different)
copy and the install went ok.
