When I try to copy pictures or a document to a cd, I get a window that comes
up that says my documents, and in that window it reads, D:\ is not accessible
function. So I took the blank cd out of the drive and tried to copy with an
empty cd drive, when I tried to copy a pic/doc, a window came on and said to
insert a blank cd. I also remember at one point when I opened my pictures
there was a option in one of the task category's there was an option to copy
to cd, but now there is none. Now what I do is highlight the file/pic then I
click copy this file and click on the d drive that is listed. Any ideas what
I can try to fix this problem?

peewee,

I had a problem a while ago that ITunes created. When I installed it,
there became a conflict with my CDR driver. I don't remember how I fixed
it, except uninstalling Itunes, getting the CDR working, then
re-installing ITunes from the Mac site.

Maybe related?

MI, roxio version 5 basic, works great!

Hang on a mo! Which version of Roxio are you using? I ask because earlier
versions were not compatible with XP's inbuilt CD writing utility.

If your Roxio has the 'Direct CD' packet writing utility, then it is not
compatible. Roxio substituted 'Drag-to-disc' which is.

Bob, roxio works fine, it is when I try to burn cd unsing xp that I cant,
when I open cd-rw properties no record tab.

Windows XP doesn't do "rewriteable" CD's as "rewritable" only as CD-R.
If the Roxio changed things to handle CD-RW then there is the issue. If
you want the default CD-R handling by Windows XP to be returned to the
original, then you will likely need to remove Roxio, and "fix" the
settings. I would suggest you use Roxio and an leave well enough alone.
