CD drive won't read/incorrectly reads

Well depending on which start up you catch my computer on
sometimes the CD drive doesn't show up in My Computer, A
problem I've had before, but can't remember how to
solve. Or what will happen is the CD, which is a game,
or data CD, will read as a Audio CD, and is labeled as
such, but you can't open it.

Any help would be greatly appreciat, and thanks in advance
for any help
