CD Drive Incorrect Function HELP!

J

Joe

Hi everyone, hopefully you can help me.

I have a VPR matrix computer with windows XP, and a DVD
burner that came with the machine. Whenever I try to put
a blank CD in the drive and write to it, windows
says "D:\ is not accessible, incorrect function"

I have NO other CD burning software installed. I have
tried removing the Enum key for CD drives, that did not
help.

I tried removing the service for cd burning and
reloading, that didn't help.

I removed the upperfilter and lowerfilter registry keys,
no effect.

I forgot to mention I have already tried the missing
drive fix.

Nero works fine as well.

The drive reads other CD's just not blank ones. And I
obviously cannot burn.

Anyone else have ideas??

Thanks,

Try this:

1. Go to Windows Explorer
2. Right-click on your CD Drive
3. Select Properties
4. Click the Recording tab

Check if Enable CD Recording on this drive has a check
mark if it doesn't add it. Now try to burn a CD.

Good luck

It is likely then that this is one of the drives for which 'for whatever
reason' the inbuilt burning plain just not work. In such a case, cut
things short, disable recording in the drive's Properties, and use a
third party package. You say Nero works - use it. It does everything
the inbuilt burning does, and more
