CD burning

I hope I'm in the correct place.

OK this is kinda wierd. I can burn CD/RW's but not CD/R's. The same problem
occurs wether I use the burner that comes with XP Pro, Win Media Player or
Music Match Jukebox. It was all working fine for years then just happened. I
get a error that says that there is a problem with the burner but that the
problem is probably a bad disc. I have tried various brands of CD's and
updated the drivers to no avail... I'm thinking it is probably the burner
itself.
I'm running a PIII @ 1 Ghz with 512 Mb RAM and XP Pro
Any suggestions?
