CD Burning

Very resently i've bought a thoshiba laptop pc with burner. the shop piced out cd-rw's that should match. I have CD-R's burned by others I can read from the same cd/DVD station. When I try to burn, using the procedure lined out by the hand book, I get the answer: not accesible, incorrect function. Help anyone?

Firstly,

make sure you note the difference between
CD-RWs and
CD-Rs

CD-RWs are expensive, required formatting (20+ mins), and CAN be re-written
many times like a floppy, but CANNOT be read on a non-burning CD-ROM drive.

CDRs are cheap, need NO formatting, can only be written once (or a few times
maybe) and CAN be read on ANY CD-ROM drive.

Thus, I suggest CD-Rs bought in bulk are best.

So,
what software are you using?
please descrive the steps you take and exactly when the error occurs

CD/RW disks do not require formatting. I have several that I write to
using XP's built-in burning software, which is not capable of packet
writing - that _does_ require formatting of the disk.
Check out this site for nicely presented info on burning...
