CD Burning Problems

I've been successful before in burning CD's and now I'm having trouble. I
want to copy a CD I already have. I've tried Ahead Nero, Real Player and
Windows XP without success. I saved the music files to my computer and used
Windows to write to CD. For some reason, when I'm prompted to insert a CD and
do so, the drive does not recognize that there is a CD in it. It continues to
prompt a CD. I'm very frustrated right now and could really use some help.
Thank you.

Try this. I had the same problem with an external CD-writer and got around
it this way:
(1) Shut down completely. I mean 'shut down' not 'restart'.
(2) Turn the power on to just your CD-writer only and wait a few moments.
(3) Insert a blank CD and close the CD-writer. It will take a minute or two
to complete 'preparation for writing' when the clicking noise will stop.
(4) Leaving the CD-writer on, now boot up. Be patient and wait for all
applications to load.
(5) Open My Computer and you will find your CD drive there.
(6) Open Windows Media Player and click 'Copy to CD or Device' in the left
pane and WMP will find your CD drive in a few seconds. You're ready to copy
too as the blank CD has already been loaded. (Do let me know if it works.)
