CD burning; control of order of files in a folder

My DVD player, hitched to my TV, will play jpgs in the order that they
appear on a CD. Seems like a simple way to do a slide show - but I can't
seem to contol the order that the jpgs are burned to the CD (using Roxio
CD/DVD Creator 6.0)..

I know that I can rename all of the jpgs to include a leading number - but
that is pretty awkward.

All of my jpgs have the date/time the photos were taken, and I am willing
to use that to set the order. In Explorer I can click on the date/time
column and get everything in chronological order - at least on the Explorer
monitor display. But when I burn the CD the file order gets slightly
scrambled from the chronological order.

This also must be a problem for people who burn a bunch of songs to a CD. I
presume that some of them would like to control the order of the songs.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hello Dave,

I also use ECD6 and if you are burning a music cd, you can put songs in the
order that you wish. However, pictures are treated as data when burned to
the disk. And since within Windows you can re-arrange data by date, name,
size, type, etc., ECD6 doesn't give you the ability to do this.

However, I do have a really simple way to do this. Create a new folder and
Copy (DONT MOVE) the pictures you want to burn to this folder. Go into this
folder and drag the pictures into the order you want them displayed (make
sure you in the Icons View for the folder). Now select all of the files by
clicking Ctrl+A or Edit > Select All. Then right-click the first file, and
click Rename. Rename the picture something like Pictures or what ever, and
press Enter.

This will automatically rename all of the pictures in order from 1 to
whatever and you can burn them to CD.

Its sort of a dirty work around, but it works.
